Most Nashville neighborhood guides are written like the choice is between vibe words: trendy, historic, family-friendly, upscale. That misses the actual decision. Nashville is a city where the neighborhood decision is usually a commute decision, a school decision, or a tourism-distance decision.

East Nashville and Germantown are not substitutes for Franklin and Brentwood. The Gulch is not a family plan. Green Hills is not walkable just because it is expensive. The Nations and Sylvan Park are not the same thing even though they sit on the same side of town. Each pick solves one problem and creates another.

So this guide is written around constraints. Rent ceiling, school certainty, commute, car-light life, creative scene, private-school geography, and whether you want Nashville proper or the Nashville region.
